Designed
to develop exceptional business leaders in China's
food and agribusiness sector
|
| |
| The Tippie EMBA has a clear
mission: developing world-class Chinese business
leaders in the food and agribusiness sectors.
Unlike other programs, this program has been
developed to meet specific needs of the executives
in China's food and agribusiness industries.
These industries have experienced the most
dynamic growth since the reform of any economic
sector, but are faced with enormous challenges
in a post-WTO world.In
general, the overall competitiveness of China's
food and agribusin ess is still low compared
with that of developed countries. Structural
reform and improvement of management are critical
to make changes, but the most important factor
is to develop people with the required qualities.
This program is designed for just that purpose. |

|
|
| The
combined strengths of world-class institutions
and resources will provide unprecedented
access to high quality education in
management and agribusiness |
The Tippie EMBA
program is an achievement of the vision
and dedication of four highly-regarded
institutions: The University of Iowa,
Purdue University, the Chinese Academy
of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), and
the Franklin Institute of Management
(FIM).
Iowa and Purdue are
two world-class universities that
have a combined history of 300 years
of business education. With a long
tradition of providing education to
people from all parts of the world,
including China, these two institutions
are well positioned to offer this
program in China.
CAAS is China's leading
national research and educational
institution focused in food and agricultural
sciences and economic management.
It has eleven academicians of both
the Chinese Academy of Sciences and
the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The Graduate School of CAAS has thirteen
disciplines that have the right to
grant doctorate degrees and 28 master
degree disciplines. The school was
awarded "Excellent Unit of the
National Academic Degree and Graduate
Education" by the Academic Degree
Commission of the State Council and
the Ministry of Education.
The Franklin Institute
of Management is an institution of
a group of scholars in China and abroad
whose expertise is in management research
and consultancy. The Institute's insight
in management research and education,
as well as knowledge of different
social, cultural, and educational
systems have been instrumental in
the development of the program.

Strongly
international but uniquely local, students learn
from international experts in a program focused
on China's unique characteristics |
|
|
The
international characteristics of this program
go far beyond the fact that the program
is offered by two American universities
in cooperation with Chinese institutions.
What makes this program really special is
the strong commitment of all partners to
building a program that coherently combines
the best of both worlds. Every factor for
this program is specifically developed for
China including the curriculum, course materials
and cases. Student participation and interaction
guided by an international faculty of experts
will enhance the learning experience. At
the same time, the local administration
will ensure program logistics run smoothly.
|
The
unique curriculum combines the best
of each university's programs. Thirty
to forty percent of The University of
Iowa's EMBA class in the U.S. represents
food and agribusiness related corporations,
thus the faculty has developed a curriculum,
course materials and cases that meet
the needs of these students. Purdue
University's program in food and agribusiness
is one of the leading programs in this
field. Many of the Purdue courses in
this program have been part of highly
appraised programs completed by Chinese
business executives and governmental
officials at Purdue.
|
Well-developed
cases about Chinese food and agribusiness
organizations provide extensive
learning resources. Thanks to the vision
and diligent work of the Chinese Academy
of Agricultural Sciences, this program
has China's best collection of cases
on Chinese corporations in food and
agribusiness. This provides a unique
resource unavailable to students in
other EMBA programs offered in China.
|
Rich
Interactions among students and
educators with different perspectives
and from different cultures are strongly
emphasized. In addition to interactions
among fellow students in China, a group
of business executives who are currently
students in the Tippie EMBA program
in the U.S., will visit China and work
with their Chinese counterparts on solving
classroom and real- world project issues.
In the near future, we will provide
opportunity for Chinese students to
visit and work with students in the
US. This opportunity to build networks
among executives in the two countries
will bring long lasting advantages to
all participants. |
|
|
|
|
| Germane
lectures and speeches offer real Chinese perspectives |
Lectures and speeches on special
topics offered by academicians of CAAS speakers
from corporations, government agencies, and research
institutions will help students to develop a full
perspective on business issues facing their companies,
both in China and globally.

an experience that broadens your expertise,
strengthens your leadership abilities, benefits
your company, and significantly enriches your
personal and professional life.
|
|
|
|
|
Strong
corporate support from major multinational and domestic
companies provides access to additional expertise |
| |
| Executives from major companies
will share their experiences with students
and provide opportunities to interact with
a broader representation from the corporate
sector. |
|
|
|
|
|
Quality
program administration and services ensure program
success |
| |
The complexities
of coordinating activities for this program require
expertise in working with multiple institutions
from different social, cultural, economic, and academic
systems. The Franklin Institute of Management and
the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences combine
both the international and domestic knowledge required
for program success. Together, the two institutions
will be responsible for the administration of the
program and will provide continuous support and
value-added services to our students and their companies. |
| |

offered through the Tippie EMBA will bring
the best program of its kind in the world
